Waterpolo is a sport for young and old. You train a few times a week as part of a team and you play a match on Saturdays!
After obtaining your C diploma in the swimming pool or the 5th diploma of the swimming plan, you can participate in water polo from the age of 7.
Water polo is an exciting team sport that resembles handball but in the water. The teams are divided into age categories of 2 years each, so that you always play against children of approximately the same strength. This applies up to the age of 17. After that you will play in an adult team and you can meet all ages. Up to 11 years old, there are 4 players on the field and 1 goalkeeper, after that there are 6 players on the field. Depending on your age, matches last 4×4 or 4×5 minutes.
That seems short, but water polo is a tough sport, and usually the players are quite tired at the end of a match. If you can take a beating and you can already swim nicely, come and train with us sometime, then you will learn how to throw and swim with the ball and who knows, you may become our new top scorer!
